Great addition. Especially for the long over night cooks. Sometimes the pellets will tunnel and give u a false reading of low pellets. Remember when installing to clear out all pellets (you can leave the ones in the auger, BUT VERY IMPORTANT: place a small towel in the hopper to catch any dropped screws! ) once hook up the sensor, you have to calibrate it when the hopper is empty (low). Then place you hand over the sensor (full). Light in the hopper is nice. Traeger needs to add a similar add-on-light for the grill side.

This is a joke...upgrade that should have been included—like pinstripes and mud guards on cars the dealer tried to sell you back in the days...pellets does not come down evenly causing a slope and wrong levels read. Need a vibrating motor...maybe Traeger next upgrade?!

Its super simple to install, automatically integrates with the grill and shows up in the app. I am not exactly thrilled it didn't come on the grill in the first place i mean... honestly you have to split up the shelf the cover and the pellet sensor just to nickle and dime me Traeger? But, you know, they are the best and they make fantastic food there is no denying that. Plus there are plenty of suckers like me who will pay it.

All in all adding this sensor gave me the freedom to FULLY step away from my grill and still be able to monitor all parameters of my cook so, I would say it is worth it. But it would be more worth it and I'd be happier about it at 50 bucks.

Turns out that pellets do more than smell good, they are the actual heat source. Pellet grills are really pellet heaters burning food grade pellets. So when you run out the heat stops. The pellet sensor is "close enough." I see people whining about the accuracy and they missed the point. This isn't an aircraft (which if you know the regulations, the only thing a fuel gauge in an airplane needs to show accurately is "empty", which doesn't do you much good because you will have already figured that out all by yourself, no fuel gauge required) so close enough is good enough. Hear the low pellet alarm, fill it up and crawl back into bed! Running out of fire at 3AM is bad. Worse though is all the ash that gets blown around inside the grill and all over your food during re-ignition.

Installation was really easy on my Silverton 620 from Costco. Just make sure that before you fill up the hopper again you calibrate the sensor. The light is handy too!

Not sure it is a need, but sure is convenient to have. With the expensive meats a person may smoke on your Traeger, it doesn't take saving more than a cook or two to pay for itself. Great addition to an already awesome grill!

After the first time I was smoking a brisket and ran out of pellets, which caused me to have to shut everything down and start over, I realized I needed this, no matter how much I said I will pay attention to pellet levels myself. I only noticed because I got a warning saying temperature had dropped but by then it was too late. Had to clean up grill, restart it and go through all the steps again. I recommend this to everyone that has the grill

I have the Silverton 620 from Costco with D2 controller. This add-on component was very easy to install and was immediately recognized by the controller. Be sure leave the hopper empty until it calibrates itself. Very sturdy. At $75 I think there must be some serious margin baked-in. But it is nicely integrated with the phone app, and is a cool add-on. Man, upgrading from my old 10-year Traeger has been great. Lots of new bells and whistles.

easy to install and calibrate on first use. Nice peice of mind to know pellet level when away from smoker.

Note due to natural pellet action, which forms a depression vs always being perfectly flat top of pellets... its "close" to accurate due to that I see its slightly showing under % of actual, unless I open the pellet box and relevel the pellets. Nothing wrong, just note you likely have slightly more pellets in hopper that being reported....

Overall still worth it since better than no info at all on your traeger app....

This arrived from the USA 3 days before expected and was £15 cheaper than I could buy it in the UK, brilliant. Fitted in minutes and hooked up to the Wifire App. the device was seen straight away and registered an empty hopper, used my hand to check the level readings, seem fairly accurate, will know more after a long cook. Certainly read 100% when I refilled the hopper. Looks good in situ.

Works as advertised, and the light is definitely handy at night. Surprisingly expensive add-on that should be included from the start though.
